Caring for people means noticing that others have feelings, needs, opinions and challenges. People do not always think or feel the same way. Social responsibility means considering others before we speak or act.

Everyday examples: Listening when someone is upset, sharing resources fairly, including someone who feels left out, and speaking respectfully during disagreements.
  • Needs are things people require to be safe, healthy and respected.
  • Views are people’s opinions, beliefs or ways of seeing a situation.
  • Empathy means trying to understand how someone else feels.
